June 23rd to 24th, 2007
Me and Julien (otherwise known as Julien and I).

Altitude: 2087 m
Where: 50km south of Grenoble on the edge of the Vercors.
Day 1: Approaching the peak by bike from home.
Day 2: Climbing
Route: Tour des Gemeaux (6a, 9 pitches)

Day 1: 50 km ride from Grenoble to the base of the peak.
(R to L)Micha, Mathias, and Clement joined me part of the way.

After a stunningly beautiful ride I stopped at the final col overlooking the peak, pulled
out the trusty ol' bag and crawled in for what I was hoping would be a good night's
sleep (since I had to get up at 5:30am to meet Julien down the road, who was driving
there).  So 10pm rolls around and a couple stops at the col to take pictures of the sun
setting on the peak.  And off they went in 15 minutes.  Phew!  10:30 rolls around.  It's
now dark and there's no way anyone else would want to stop here.  Ha!!!  Suddenly a
car pulls up with soft rock blasting from its windows.  I don't breath, hiding behind
the tall grass in my black bag.  The dude doesn't see me, and I doubt he'll stay long.
What's there to do here in the dark, alone?  Ha!!!  12:30am rolls around.  The guy's
still there, as is his awful MUSIC!!!  What the hell is he doing?  I hear tinkling, clanking
a computer starting up and repeated violent swearing!  I doze off, not daring to look.
1:30am rolls around and suddenly, behind several swearwords, a lawnmower engine
goes off.  What the HELL is this  guy doing!  Aaaaaaahhh.  This lasts until 2:30am,
when finally he packs up tools, computer, swearwords, and THANK GOD the CD
which he's had on repeat the entire time, and drives off in a flurry.  So much for a good
       night's sleep!  Yeech.

Evening shot of our destination, with our route marked in red.  Saweet.

Our route from the base.  Wicked trad diedre at the top!!!

First pitch.  First multipitch pitch for Julien!
