Today's menu was a nice hike up through the woods followed by a via ferrata up the
vertical left ridge in the photo.
|

First part of the via ferrata.
|

|

Me being a jackass on one of the bridges.
|

View out west towards Lyon (more or less).
|

Sometimes I wish I had a fisheye lens. I guess I just have to make do with good old photo
stitching.
|

The exposed second part of the route. Very cool! |

St. Pierre d'Entremont where we started from, way below!
|

Here comes the vertical! |

And the overhanging! |

Pumping iron. |

Simon topping out. |

After topping out the via ferrata, we had a 15 minute hike left
to reach the true summit of the peak. There was nobody
around, so when we reached the summit with its usual cross,
we were surprised to see a pair of goats staring at us. |

Turns out they weren't shy at all... |

I mean AT ALL. They started licking the salt off our legs and
trying eat our shorts. |

If you've ever seen an official summit photo with a goat in it,
let me know. Otherwise, this is a rare shot! |

So you'd think, awww, nice goatey goatey goats. How cute...
Ha! As soon as we sat down and broke out the lunch bags,
these guys started getting seriously violent. Simon nearly had
his eyes and liver gauged out. Not to mention that the thing
stepped on his foot ... and they're heavy! |

Serious measures had to be taken, if we were to survive our
lunch break... The buggers were patrolling below us the
entire time. And they nearly ate my camera! |

The funny part is, that the only people we'd seen the whole day
(this Welsh couple on holidays), saw us perched on the cross in
the distance from the top of the via ferrata. We passed them
again on the way down and they couldn't help commenting
slyly that they'd seen us. They didn't believe us that a pair of
rabid goats had attacked us and forced us up there!
