April 4 to 5, 2009
Yours Truly, Sandrine and Juraj
Elevation gain: 1650 m
Elevation descent: 4425 m
Max slope angle: 45 degrees

Where: Chamonix, FRANCE

In line for the for the cable car with the rest of the cheaters..

The usual Chamonix scene.

The usual Vallee Blanche scene.  Pretty spectacular!

View of the Vallee de Leschaux (left) and the Vallee Blanche (right) while skinning up to the Refuge du Couvercle.  Aiguille du Tacul in the centre with les Grandes Jorasses peaking over its left shoulder.

Refuge du Couvercle, winter quarters: an excercise on how to stuff 30 people into an 18-person hut.

Need I say anything? ...  ok fine, you ignoramuses, it's the Grandes Jorasses.  The Walker Spur
is the leftmost spur on the face, unless I'm mistaken, in which case it's the next spur to the right.
      Not bad for a dinner-view!!!

Juraj playing with his new bindings on day 2, while skinning up towards the Col des Droites.  The original plan was to climb the Pointe Isabelle, but the seracs were heinous.  So change of plans!!!  Mont White in
      the background.

The latter half of the climb was steep bootpacking.  Tour des Courtes
        in the background.

View from the col, at 3733 m.

Customary summit shot.

And here comes the descent!  Holy Moses that's steep.  Thank god the
snow was good, otherwise I would have cried like a baby.

A bit of via ferrata on the way down, just for the halibut.  Les Drus in
       the background.

We had to ring out the snow from the final descent into Chamonix.
        Another beautiful weekend trip!
