May 1 to 3, 2009 Yours Truly, Pilar, Domitille, Karine and Antoine # of cols: 2 # of people seen: one group of snowshoers, one couple, 3 dudes, a jerkass and a donkey. Where: Belledone, FRANCE Day 1: Donkey. Day 1: Snowshoers.  On the way up to the Refuge de l'Oule. Antoine covering us from the back. Refuge de l'Oule. Day 2: 5:30am. Col de Comberousse (2669 m).  Beautiful wild area. Col de la Valloire (2758 m). Us bootpacking up to the Pointe de Comberousse with the Puy Gris        in behind. Domitille and Pilar on the final exposed ridge to the summit.. The summit, looking towards Grenoble (2789 m). Descending to the hut in the following picture. Premier Chalet de la Grande Valloire.  This hut was in rough shape, so we stashed all our gear        inside, and did an extra 45 minutes on foot to another hut nearby. Sawing wood with three random dudes at the Deuxieme Chalet de la Petite Valloire. Sweet area, all to ourselves.  Pilar and I slept outside in the loft right under the roof (you can see a bit of ugly matress sticking out). Day 2: 5:30am, looking at our climb for the day. Back at the Premier Chalet.  The night before, some old fat dude on foot stopped by our hut        and asked us where we'd come from and how much room there was in the hut.  We told him        we'd stashed our stuff in the first hut and that we were continuing on tomorrow.  He        shrugged his shoulders and said, well in that case I'll keep going ... ah ok, whatever.  Weirdo.        The next morning, we went to get our stuff, and sure enough, a set of crampons was missing        and a Pilar's poles were gone!!!  The jerkass had found our stuff, and took what he needed.        Way to throw a rotten apple into a great weekend!  Grrrr. Day 3: The climb up towards the Col d'Arguille, on the left. Skiing some hardened spring avvy crumble early in the morn. Nearing the col. Looking back down from the col (2755 m).  Beautiful climb!!!
