April 21 to 22, 2007
Me and Remy.

Altitude: 4314 m (3418 m)
Where: Valais, Suisse
Epic factor: 4.8 out of 5

Fresh and ready for action.

Our destination in the background.

Remind me why we brought skis?

Remind me why we brought skis?  Part 2.

Finally some snow!

Unfortunately the Cabane de l'Igloo was still under construction when we got there...

So we helped build it.

Swiss-Canadian construction at its best!

Is that a marmot sprawled on the rock, or is it Remy feeling sea
       sick?

Day 2: After an aspirin and 11 hours of sleep, Remy is back in
action.  The Grand Combin plan is scrapped, but we've spotted
       an awesome couloir.  Mooahaha.

So much for soft spring snow...

At 3200m, the snow is as hard as concrete.

Remy chipping steps with the axe on the 60 degree slope!

About 150 hand-made steps later!  Not to mention down-
climbing to get the packs, and climbing back up again.

Oof!  Finally at the Col des Maisons Blanches (3418 m).  What was supposed to take
us 2 hours from camp, took us nearly 5 hours.

Skiing around the west side of the Maisons Blanches, with the north face of the Grand Combin in the background.

Couloir du Moine.  Remy dropping in!

Oh baby!

View from the igloo: the climb on the right and the descent on the left.  Saweet!

Squeezing out as many turns as possible.

Oh, my legs!

Oh my legs! Part 2.

Can you say bushed, fagged, bagged, exhausted, tired, dead, slaughtered, out of comission,
wasted, gone...  What a sweet weekend!
